This project is a collaborative partnership between Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) and the Minerals Industry Safety and Health Centre (MISHC) at The University of Queensland (UQ). The project aim is to support coal operations (underground and open cut) to strengthen the integration of critical control requirements into Principal Hazard Management Plans (PHMPs) in alignment with QGN35: The Integration of Critical Controls into PHMPs for Coal Mines in Queensland.
The MISHC project team executed the engagement project plan with industry in several ways during March – April 2026. Industry consultations have been conducted:
- at industry forums including the Electrical Engineering Forums (open cut and underground), Ventilation Officers Meeting and the OCE Forum
- the Mine Managers meeting
- two consultation workshops attended by representatives from coal mining open cut and underground operations
