Dee Bradshaw Travel Scholarship

Established in 2018 in memory of Professor Dee Bradshaw and maintained by donations from her friends and work colleagues from The University of Queensland. The purpose of the scholarship is to enable meritorious postgraduate students to travel to an approved international institution to develop their research capabilities and experience within the minerals sector.
The award will be announced at an event on 17 November 2023.
- academic achievement and potential for scholastic success
- the significance and relevance of the international travel to the applicant’s research and/or professional development in the minerals sector
- any other matters the selection committee sees fit to the applicant’s future development

About Professor Dee Bradshaw
Dee Bradshaw obtained her PhD in 1997 in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cape Town (UCT) and worked there until 2007 when she took a sabbatical. During this time she spent a period at the Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI), and enjoyed it so much she stayed until 2015.
Dee was passionate about inspiring, nurturing, challenging, creating opportunities, guiding and mentoring countless students. In 2013 she received an award from The University of Queensland for excellence in post graduate supervision, which recognised her as a leader who nurtured and developed her graduate students. To celebrate this passion SMI staff established a travel scholarship in her name.
