CSRM offers postgraduate research study and a range of professional development options to build industry capacity

CSRM has an active postgraduate research program. We offer PhD and MPhil Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) in all our areas of expertise, as well as cross-disciplinary research opportunities in collaboration with other SMI Centres and the wider University.

A strong and diverse student community is a vital part of life at CSRM. We have HDR candidates from many countries including Australia, Canada, Chile, Germany, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea and the USA.

All students undertake innovative, applied research to advance the social performance of the resources sector. Current and past research topics include negotiating agreements with Indigenous peoples, resettlement policies and practices, resource governance and experiences of community relations practitioners.

Following confirmation of candidature (year one milestone) students have access to funding to conduct fieldwork or present at academic conferences.

CSRM  deliver a series of “foundation” courses, specialised Master Classes, and tailored training to meet specific stakeholder needs. We also work with community groups to build their capacity to engage large scale mining companies.
