The water and land group undertakes research, consultancy and training that addresses the water and land management challenges of the mining industry. We assist industry, governments and other stakeholder groups to characterise water and land risks in mining and prospective mining regions and find sustainable solutions to water and land management. We offer technical expertise across:
- Hydrology, and hydrogeology
- Water resources engineering
- Climate change
- Environmental water quality
- Spatial science
- Land use planning
Core research activities
- Regional water resources
- Climate adaptation
- Renewable energy deployment on mine land and biofuel crop farming
- Mitigation of water quality risks
