    The Social Aspects of Mine Closure Research Consortium has had an positive start to its second year, with its first meeting featuring a new industry partner and the delivery of findings from several successful research projects.

    University of Queensland researchers have launched a digital library focusing the mine closure conversation on people as part of the Social Aspects of Mine Closure Consortium, an industry-university collaboration between UQ’s Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI) and six mining companies.

    The Mine Rehabilitation and Closure (MRC) Wiki online resource has made it much easier to access knowledge on rehabilitating and preparing to close mining sites, which is now being managed by the Central Queensland Mine Rehabilitation Group (CQMRG). They aim to sustain and expand the tool through engagement with its members and an active working group.
